You will need:
- a bowl of water;
- a few drops of either sandalwood or amber essential (concentrated) oil; and
- a small amount of pure oil base, such as almond oil or an unscented massage oil, to mix the essential oil into so that it won't irritate your skin.
First:
Please thoroughly think through what you are going to do and why you are doing this, so that the actual anointing is the last bit of work left in finally releasing the old. Gratitude is a sign of letting go--when you're actually able to be grateful for something that has caused difficulty and pain in your life, it shows that you've moved beyond the surface and into a larger picture, a view that shows you how you have grown as a result of the experience. This lets you and the Universe know that you no longer "need" it in your life for growth.
Next:
Set your intent--the reason, the WHY you are doing this. As an example, use a statement such as, "I am letting go of the part of me that seeks to prove I am not worthy; I am releasing my fears of not being enough."
Become aware of your gratitude for those experiences that have led you to this point of seeing what you don't want and need in your life any longer, and allow that sense of gratitude to stay with you throughout the anointing.
Then:
As the anointer, you are first going to symbolically purify yourself by touching either hand into the bowl of water and then touching the top of your head, your heart, your left and then right palm, your left and then right foot (there is no specific order as long as they are all symbolically purified.)
Now:
While expressing your gratitude for the roles people and your beliefs, actions, and experiences have played in your life, acknowledge that it is time for those things to be released, to come to an end within your current life experience, and to die. Consciously let go of them so that you can then move on.
As you are thinking this through, rub a small amount of the oil mixture into the center--an energy chakra--of first one and then the other palm; rub a small amount of the oil mixture onto the bottom of first one and then the other foot where the toes meet the foot--an area that has strong energy reflexes; find the slight indentation (your "soft spot") at the very top of your head and touch a small amount of the oil mixture to that spot, recognizing it as the point of completion of your humanity; and finally, touch the oil on the place on your chest at which you can feel the upper and lower heartbeat with oil, recognizing it as the release of the energy that maintains the physical body. When you've done these four areas (hands, feet, top of the head and heart) remember to thank yourself for giving and receiving this opportunity to let go.
You CAN anoint someone else (and someone else can anoint you if you prefer) using this same technique.
Anointing another person who is in the process of dying is a powerful gift to give them. This will not "kill them", but it will allow the spirit to more easily separate from the physical body if they have a portal (which is Samuel's way of referring to death).
