Channeling also encompasses creative expression (the "voice of the muse") and such things as "inspired speaking" and even automatic writing. It can be the conscious awareness of the "still, small voice within" or, as is the case with Lea and Samuel, the method is what Samuel calls Transformational Channeling.
This special form of communication differs from unconscious channeling in that Samuel's energy transforms not only Lea, but the listener as well. His energy actually transforms Lea's body as he infuses it with his energy, so that his communication through Lea seems "human to human," with a definite personality--a twinkle of the eye, a smile or a nod of understanding. Samuel also communicates spirit to spirit--he says he talks the language of our hearts--a special interaction that transforms those who are experiencing him.
While Lea is the only person through whom Samuel
communicates with the world, his relationship to us is not limited
to her channeling. He says he communicates to the hearts of all
who feel a connection with him and that all who are drawn to his
work in one way or another have that connection. This type of personal
communion with Samuel is not in words, but in "seed thoughts"
which we each interpret individually.
Who is Lea?
Lea Schultz, who has been channeling Samuel since 1984, grew up in San Antonio, Texas. After attending Florida Bible College she and her husband moved to Lexington, Kentucky, in 1976 to begin a local ministry. But as they "moved into the world and grew up," as Lea says, they discovered differences that eventually led them to divorce. In 1982 Lea married her present husband, Frank, who, before he devoted himself full-time to Samuel's work, was an attorney at a local law firm.
In 1983, on a visit to Texas, Lea took a business course in stimulating and training the mind. One of the things she learned was an easy relaxation-meditation technique, which she later taught Frank. It was early in 1984, as they were practicing this technique together, that Lea first channeled Samuel—an experience that she still doesn't remember. Samuel has explained that through lifetimes of work together, he and Lea developed a relationship and an agreement that would allow her to channel him so he could begin the work that eventually would become known as Phoenix Institute. Lea is the president of both Phoenix Institute, Inc., and EarthLight, Inc.

Who or what are the Guardians that Samuel sometimes refers to?
Over the years Samuel has mentioned different types of Guardians--Guardians of the Light, Guardians of the Wisdom, Guardians of Knowledge, Guardians of the Way, and others.
But perhaps Samuel's specific words may give the best answer: "There are many sorts of Guardians. When I'm speaking of Guardians generally, I'm making reference to those spirit energies that have ensouled into form specifically for the purpose of working to bring about the completion of the Plan in this world, at this time of transition. Whatever specific version that they are working to bring about creates the different little variations which I call Guardians of Wisdom or other such aspects. And finally there are those who have a specific compact with me—not all of whom are reading this now—who are working at a level of Mastery; their frequency is at a Co-creator level. When I say they are Guardians of the Plan, it's making a reference to the original Plan for the planet, because they had much to do with installing that Plan."
What is Phoenix Institute?
In January, 1985, Phoenix Institute, Inc., was created as a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization to be the center for sharing Samuel's growing work. It was soon granted its tax-exempt status as a Section 501(c)(3) organization by the IRS.
As participation in the weekly meetings grew,
Lea's living room was quickly outgrown. In 1990, after six years
of meeting in homes, churches and hotels, Phoenix Institute opened
its own newly renovated building on Lima Drive, where it remains
today. Phoenix Institute is proud that Lexington is the home base
for Samuel's work, a work that touches the world through seminars,
workshops, regular free public meetings with Samuel, a free quarterly
newsletter and through our sister organizations in Pittsburgh and
Atlanta.
What is EarthLight, Inc.?
As it became clear that sharing Samuel's life-transforming teachings through workshops, tapes, transcripts and private sessions was more than a part-time work, Lea, Frank and their partner Stuart Waldner made the commitment to dedicate their lives to sharing Samuel's message with the world. EarthLight, Inc., was formed in 1987 as the vehicle that would employ them and provide events and opportunities for others to experience Samuel.
Through the years thousands have discovered that Samuel's unconditional love and unparalleled ability are unique. This powerful interactive ability allows our inner selves to get involved and dynamically participate in the growth process. Who is T.T.?
 T.T. is a world-traveling pooka whose ancestral homeland is Mount Snowdon, Wales. She became a part of EarthLight in 1995, and since then has been traveling the world with us, helping spread light, love and good cheer where ever she goes. T.T.'s company is universally enjoyed, and children everywhere seem to be especially fond of her. Her favorite pastimes are going to the water park and sitting next to Samuel at workshops and first Sundays.
